In an attempt to maximize the hours that I'm awake, I'm trying a polyphasic sleep schedule. I'm an introverted person, and like to have time to myself. I've found the best times to do this are late at night, when the rest of the world is asleep. Also, I'd like to increase my personal productivity. As a college bound student, more hours of studying would have obvious benefits.
I'm sure you're heard of the überman's sleep schedule. If you haven't, here's a link. I'm a little worried to try this. It wouldn't work for my life anyway, since my schedule as a student requires me to be awake for at least eight straight hours, most of the time more with after school activities. I am, however, imposing a revised version of this on my life, that is composed of two 20-30 minute power naps with one bigger block of sleep right before school to keep me going for those eight hours. I'm not quite sure yet how long this block should be. In my first trial of this, I'll try three hours.
However, I need things to keep me awake, because the first week feels like sleep deprivation (or so I've heard.) I could use support on this. Knowing that someone else is counting on me to do this, and following my results, will help me keep this up.
Thank you for reading. : ) Comment with tips on how to stay awake, or if you're willing to stay up with me and use this schedule as well (which I would love. : D) Tonight will be my first night on this schedule, and I'm hoping it works.
